PDP will Sustain Udo Ekpenyong’s Leadership Ideals - Acting State Chairman
The Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State, Rt. Hon. Lawrence Udosen, has stated that the party in the state will do all it can to sustain the leadership ideals of the departed state chairman of the party, Obong (Hon) Udo Ekpenyong.
Speaking in Uyo, Tuesday February, 23, 2021, while receiving more delegations from groups who visit the party to commiserate over the chairman’s demise, Hon Udosen, noted that Obong Ekpenyong left enduring legacies in leadership, evident the orderliness and peace enjoyed under his watch as chairman. He also appreciated the various delegations who have visited the party at the state level to register condolences over the death of the state chairman of the party, Obong (Hon) Udo Ekpenyong, saying that it is a mark of honour to the departed 6th chairman of PDP in the state.
The Acting Chair acknowledged the respect paid by the various delegations at the instance of the late Obong Ekpenyong. He noted that for a man who earned so much respect while alive, like Obong Udo Ekpenyong, no amount of honour is too much to be done following his demise. Hon Udosen further reassured the groups of the party’s resolve to keep up with the late chairman’s legacies.
Delegations from Eastern Obolo, Urue Offong/Oruko, Oron and sociopolitical group, Ibiono Ibom Progressives, who separately visited the Akwa Ibom State leadership of PDP, commiserated with the party over the chairman’s demise. Leading the Eastern Obolo delegation, the national assembly member for Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin, Eastern Obolo Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Francis Uduyok, said that the chairman’s death is particularly painful to Eastern Obolo, given the impact his party administration was creating in the politics of the area.
The Urue Offong/Oruko council chair, Hon. Precious Selong, in her condolence message on behalf of the delegation from Urue Offong/Oruko, also expressed grief over the sad occurrence. She spoke glowingly of the late chairman and added that Urue Offong/Oruko people will miss a great political leader like Obong Ekpenyong. In a similar remark, the Commissioner for Culture & Tourism, Hon. Orman Esin, while presenting the message from Oron delegation, mourned the demise of Obong Udo Ekpenyong. He noted that in the short period that the chairman held sway in the party, he instilled great values in the polity.
In their separate visitation, a pro Ibiono Ibom sociopolitical group, the Ibiono Ibom Progressives, also commiserated with the state leadership of PDP over the chairman’s demise.
The leader of the delegation, Comrade Ini Ememobong, who is also the State Commissioner for Information & Strategy, encouraged the party leadership to stay strong and continue in the legacies of the late chairman.
