PDP MADE APPLAUDABLE GAINS UNDER UDO. EKPENYONG - ALGON
…As Nsit Atai, Ikot Abasi Stakeholders Visit PDP
The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) says there were much democratic gains enjoyed by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom, particularly those who hold elective positions in public service, through the platform of Obong Udo Ekpenyong led PDP in the state.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues at the condolence visit to the party, the state chairman of ALGON, Hon. Iniobong Robson stated that although the party chairman is no more, the present class of local government chairmen in the state will not forget “the democratic gains” that they enjoyed from the party while Obong Ekpenyong held the rein.
According to Robson, “within the few months that he held sway in this party, we made a lot of democratic gains. He introduced to this party, so much hope. Fate has scuttled what would have been a thank you visit, but then, our state chairman decided to die on his feet, than live on his knees. Let his death be a source of inspiration and unity for the party.”
Similarly, at the visits of Nsit Atai and Ikot Abasi delegations, stakeholders of the party upheld late Obong Ekpenyong as a legend whose name will outlive him. The leaders of the sperate delegations, Otuekong Raphael Bassey and the Ikot Abasi Council Chairman, Hon. Joshua Affia, in their condolence messages, hailed the late party chairman as a hero who led an examplary life and was known for his outstanding virtue of loyalty. They condoled with the family, the party and the state for the loss.
The Acting State Chairman of PDP, Hon. Lawrence Udosen, in his response, agreed with the various delegations on their views of the late chairman. Udosen specially noted that Obong Ekpenyong was a peace maker and his peaceful disposition was exuded everywhere he served. He thanked the delegations for their show of solidarity and tasked them to keep honouring the departed chairman.
