The Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, has charged stakeholders and faithful of the party in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency to remain united in pursuit of a collective success for the party in 2023.
The chairman who was impressed by the great support enjoyed by the party in the area, appreciated the federal constituency for its great efforts in sustaining the party, while admonishing the stakeholders and faithful to remain united for the party, assuring that the umbrella of the party is big enough to accommodate all political interests and aspirations.
“Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency has done so much for the party. I am aware of the immense contributions done for PDP in Ikono/Ini and we came to appreciate you in Ikono/Ini for all that you have done for the party”
“If you aspire for a position and it doesn’t turn out as expected, stay with us as there will certainly be sufficient settlement of all issues. Let there be no rancor, we have capable party machinery to settle all internal dissatisfactions. I promise you, we will stand by the people and ensure that there is peace in our party and in the state. Let everybody work together for us to succeed together”, he said.
On their part, the people of the aboriginal stock of Ibibio, Ikono/Ini through the umbrella of PDP redeclared in the affirmative their unwavering committment to further entrench the party in the area and increase the winning tally for the party in 2023.
At Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, headquarters of Ikono Local Government Area, party stakeholders and faithful in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency who addressed the state delegation of the party, noted that as a united stock, the ‘ntippe Ibibio’ is known for its loyal disposition and more particularly, for their staunch support for PDP.
Former senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Senator Aloysius Etok who hails from the area, re-echoed the message of the stakeholders, holding that the federal constituency has good reasons to increase votes tally for PDP.
In their seperate remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Augustine Umoh and the Chairman of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Service Commission, Barr. Goddy Umoh, affirmed the position of the federal constituency and pledged more support for PDP.
Also at the stakeholders engagement, the state chairman received back into the party, former two terms House of Representatives member, Rt. Hon. (Prof) Ini Udoka, who rejoined the party with a horde of supporters from APC.
Udoka who served as Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Chairman of the opposition party, thanked the state chairman of the party for receiving back to PDP on which platform he was elected into the national assembly, pledging to contribute his quota to the development of the state through the party.
Others who spoke were the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Petroleum Matters, Sir Victor Etefia, immediate past Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Glory Edet and her successor, Dr. Offiong Offor.
