AKS PDP REAFFIRMS PLEDGE TO PRODUCE DEVELOPMENT-MINDED GUBER CANDIDATE

… As Akan Udofia Meets Party for Support over Governorship aspiration

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has maintained that it will produce a gubernatorial candidate driven by development ideals who will best further the economic agenda of the state to and enhance growth.

The State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon (Elder) Aniekan Akpan who gave remarks during the consultative visit to the party by one of the party’s gubernatorial hopeful, Obong Akan Udofia, stated that the essence of politics is to drive development, pointing that Akwa Ibom State is developing because of the people-centric administrations led by PDP produced governors since 1999.

“We must not engage in the kind of politics that does not bring development which is why we hold that there should be politics without bitterness and politics without rancor. The is the message from us in PDP. There must be decency”, he said.

Seeking the support from the party in his governorship bid, the Nsit Ibom born business mogul, Obong Akan Udofia, hinted that his aspiration is born out of his vision to serve the people and continue in the path of development created by PDP governments in Akwa Ibom State, saying his blueprint is based on human capital and prosperity for Akwa Ibomites.

“PDP is a bastion of development, a bastion of growth and prosperity.”
“I am a product of succession so I know how to succeed”
“I am interested in human capital development and I give you full assurance that if given the opportunity to serve, I will not fail”, Udofia stated.

The State Chairman of party while responding, told Udofia that the party is glad to receive him, encouraging him to proceed with consultations and seek support from the delegates of the party in his aspiration and assured him of a leveled playing ground.

He said, “You are a true party man, go on with your consultations. We know that if by the grace of God you emerge governor, you will do what you have promised Akwa Ibom.”

As of Wednesday March 23, nine governorship aspirants of PDP had consulted the state leadership of the party, a development the chairman says is a testimonial to the party’s fair treatment of its aspirants.
