“PDP In Eket Senatorial District Will Wax Stronger” – Hon Mfon Nkantion
The Vice chairman, Eket Senatorial District of the PDP, Rt. Hon. Mfon Nkantion, has doused fears that the party is losing grip of Eket Senatorial District, stating that despite the defection of Senator Nelson Effiong who represents the District in the Senate, the PDP family remains intact, robust and will wax ever stronger.
Hon. Nkantin made the declaration, while addressing the mammoth crowd of stakeholders that turned up for the Eket Senatorial District PDP Youth solidarity rally for Governor Udom Emmanuel to assure him of their unanimous support till 2019 and beyond held at the Government Primary, Uya Oron, Oron Local Government area on Friday, January 3, 2017.
The Eket Senatorial District Vice chairman of the party thanked the people of the district for remaining steadfast and standing by their illustrious son and Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, assuring that, there is no going back on the objective of canvassing a second term for the governor, who he posited, is performing excellently despite the economic challenges faced by the nation.

In his remarks said, the youths were out for a show of strength, to prove cynics wrong and demonstrate that, the PDP remains a party to reckon with in Eket Senatorial District in general and Oron Federal Constituency in particular. Hon. Harry said Senator Effiong is on his own and did not consult with the people before he shortchanged them on the mandate the gave to him to represent them at the National Assembly.
On his part, the Chairman of the occasion and Honourable Commissioner for Transport and Petroleum Resources in the state, Hon. Orman Esin, reaffirmed the resolve of the people of Oro nation to support Governor Udom Emmanuel to complete his full tenure in office. He dismissed. Claims made by Senator Effiong that there was an agreement for one term for Governor Emmanuel and that, the people of Oro are poised to return the governor in appreciation of the many good dividends he has dispensed to the Oro people including political inclusion and road infrastructure.
Commissioner Esin assured that, come 2019, Oro nation will prove their mettle.
Addressing the rally, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Obong Paul Ekpo commended the people for turning out in large numbers to show support for Governor Emmanuel and the PDP administration in the state. Obong Ekpo said the party is marching on and is poised to sweep the polls again come 2019 as Governor Emmanuel will be represented to the people for a second term in office. He disclosed that, the party is working hard to ensure the people are mobilized to support good governance.
A woman leader Mrs Christy Esin said the women, youths and stakeholders of Eket Senatorial district will never compromise in their support for the PDP, a party she said, has performed creditably well for the last 17 years in transforming the state.
Earlier, the youths led a carnival march around major streets of Oron before the rally which was attended by a compliment of members of the state Executive Committee of the party and stalwarts of the party from the district.
