… As Akparawa Udeme Silas Consults Party
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has expressed satisfaction with the calibre of party members indicating interest to fly the party’s flag as candidates for the 2023 Governorship election in the state.
Rt.(Hon) Aniekan Akpan made the comment while welcoming a gubernatorial hopeful, Akparawa Udeme Silas who visited the party leadership for consultation, maintained that as a party that thrives on strong democratic ideals, the tradition of Delegates deciding the party’s flagbearer will be fully upheld in the build up to the 2023 polls.
In his words, “I have heard of your plans for Akwa Ibom people. I am impressed. Be assured of internal democracy during the nomination. Consult widely, talk to statutory delegates and aspiring Adhoc delegates, their votes will decide who is our flagbearer, that is our tradition”.
Speaking further, the Akwa Ibom PDP helmsman who commended Akparawa Udeme Silas, for honouring and respecting the party by consulting the leadership, held that the party is proud to have great members like him who have travelled within and outside the country, knowledgeable and equipped to lead”.
On his part, the Ibesikpo Asutan born former custom officer, Akparawa Udeme Silas, while speaking on his guber aspiration, gave insight on his dreams for Akwa Ibom people which he hinted is predicated on development of the science and technology sector, free and qualitative health care services, food sufficiency, man power development, power sector and community development, adding that given the chance to fly the party’s flag, he will use his experience gathered within Nigeria, the United States and other countries of the world to make Akwa Ibom proud.
Akparawa Silas appreciated the leadership of PDP in Akwa Ibom State for receiving him and his team, pledging unflinching loyalty, commitment, and support to the party..
Present at the consultation were members of the State Executive Committee of the party, the South-South Zonal Publicity Secretary of the party, Bishop Etim Ante, as well chapter chairmen of the PDP.
