Re: APC Welcomes Senator Nelson Effiong

The press release by the publicity secretary of the All Progressive Congress Akwa Ibom State chapter would ordinarily not have earned our response, as it would have passed for one of his unceasing monologue exposing deep seated hatred for his his former benefactors, but for his mention of our Party and the accompanying uncomplimentary remarks (which are his trademark).

It is laughable that a person whose position as publicity secretary was on the line recently, until he pressurised his party chairman and secretary to issue a release to supposedly authenticate his miraculous occupation of the office, is the man discussing crisis in another party. We were expecting that the gentleman will discuss the internal crisis which has defined the political contraption which he represents. The crisis that led to the alleged expulsion of their Governorship aspirant or the crisis emerging from the criminal substitution of their original candidates and the crude imposition of the three senatorial candidates picked from the crumbs that fell from the table of our great Party the PDP, during the last general elections.

It is further interesting to read a welcome press release coming almost a week after the ignoble defection-clearly an indication of an afterthought. This afterthought welcome is clearly understood. How could you eagerly welcome a man that described your party as a gang of night soil men (obiom in local parlance) ? A man that exposed the historic perspective why oro people are naturally apprehensive of broomweilding people? A man who analysed the pecuniary and mundane reasons why some of his oro brothers were carrying brooms.

But wait! Is the publicity secretary of APC not aware that his political organization has never contested any two general election with the same name since 2003? We were expecting that he will notify us of their intention to obtain a different name. On the good leadership of their Presidential candidate, we can only laugh out loud as evidence manifestly abound asserting the contrary. We leave him and his party to contend with Nigerians who are daily suffering untold hardship imposed on them by a federal government that is worse than a rudderless ship.

We had stated earlier and we reiterate that we will explore all legal avenues to reclaim the Party’s mandate which Nelson Effiong held in trust.
We must remind the APC that ” he who laughs last,…”(they can complete the sentence for us).
