PARTY’S CONDOLENCE VISIT

Akwa Ibom PDP Commiserates Nkanga Family
… Party has lost a great pillar – Dep. Chair

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State, has commiserated with the family of the departed former governor of the state, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (Rtd), describing his demise as a great loss to the party in the state.

At the condolence visit to the Nkanga family in Ikot Nya, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, the state Deputy Chairman of PDP, Hon. Lawrence Udosen who led the State Executive Committee of the party on the visit, expressed the party’s condolences to the deceased family, speaking glowingly of the departed party stakeholder.

According to Hon Udosen, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, who was the political leader of Uyo Senatorial District, was “a great party man and patriot who worked tirelessly to ensure that Akwa Ibom State earns a place in Nigeria.”

Extolling the virtues of the Otuekong Nkanga, Udosen described him as a father to many, holding that “the party has lost a great pillar”. He however encouraged the family and the party not to mourn as the late Nkanga lived a fulfilled life. “We know that our father lived a fulfilled life and we know that we should be celebrating him”, he said.

In her response, the wife of the deceased, Mrs Funmi Nkanga, thanked the leadership of PDP in the state for showing solidarity with the family at the instance of her husband’s demise. She observed that her husband was a faithful stakeholder of the party and was interested in the peace and progress of the state.

“My husband did not only belong to PDP, he was fully involved in PDP. There was a time rumour was flying and I remember him saying he cannot leave PDP”

“I know you are also pained because to some of you, he was a friend, to some, he was a father and confidant. Let us continue in the path that my late husband always advocated for, the path of peace.”

In their separate responses, the brothers of the late Otuekong Nkanga, Hon. Samuel Nkanga and Elder Amanam Nkanga, who is also the Special Adviser, Bureau of Political & Legislative Affairs, thanked the party for the visit and used the opportunity to console with the party on the loss of the state Chairman, Obong Udo Ekpenyong.

“I am not only missing Idongesit Nkanga, I am also missing the late state Chairman of PDP and I pray that God should not allow affliction to rise the second time”, said Elder Nkanga.

While alive, late Idongesit Nkanga was the first and only indigenous Military Administrator in Akwa Ibom State, Chairman, Airport Implementation Committee, leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and held other positions in public service.

Joining the condolence visit were the former State Chairman of the party, Obong Paul Ekpo, some chapter chairmen and other stakeholders.
