LG POLL: PDP Inaugurates Mobilization And Advisory Committees In Ikot Ekpene. Sen Dist.
As part of its strategies for massive victory in the forthcoming Local Government election, the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom state, Tuesday, inaugurated Mobilization and Advisory Committees in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
The inauguration which drew thousands of party faithful and loyalists took place at the Independence Hall, Abak for Abak Federal Constituency, that of Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency was conducted at the Ikot Ekpene Council Hall, while the one for Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency was performed at the Ikono Secretariat Hall, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo.
Speaking shortly before the inauguration of the committee, the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo who led other members of the State Executive Committee of the Party to the event, acknowledged the continuous support of the people of the various federal constituencies for the PDP, stressing that such support has continued to position the PDP in Akwa Ibom as the party with the winning formula in all elections in the state.
The Party Chairman commended party faithfuls and supporters of the PDP for remaining united, resolute and keeping faith with the party all throughout the short time the party was faced with crises at the national level, maintaining that with the crisis over, the PDP was back on its feet to take over her place at the National level as the ruling party.
He reminded members of the Party that the principle of zoning will be followed to the latter as the party goes into the Local Government election, stressing that this was in the spirit of ensuring equity and fairness in the distribution of offices. The chairman also admonished the committee to mobilize all for the ongoing Voter registration Exercise.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Moses Ekpo lauded the leadership of the PDP in Akwa Ibom state for the visionary step of inaugurating the committees which he said would go along way in ensuring that the PDP sweeps all the positions in the forthcoming Local Government Council election in the Senatorial District.
The Deputy Governor harped on the need for everyone to work together with those appointed into the committee even as he reminded elected office holders of the need to go to their Units and sensitize the people on the need for a peaceful selection and election process.
Membership of the Committee cuts across all Appointed Coordinators, Secretaries, Chapter Chairmen, Ward Chairmen, Youth Council and Caucus Chairmen among other stakeholders.
