PDP Strategizes For Future Elections in Urueoffong/Oruko

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Urueoffong/Oruko Local Government, Hon. Okpo Edeke has promised that the opposition in the area will soon belong to history as PDP has adopted strategic engagement approach in its preparations for future elections.

Hon. Edeke, who made the disclosure when Oro Democratic Coalition, a frontline socio-political organization formed by PDP members in the five local government areas of Oro nation to work for the party paid him a courtesy visit at the party secretariat in Oyubia.

The chapter chairman, a grassroots politician, said the party and the organization are working hard to ensure that PDP is back on the winning lane in Urueoffong/Oruko in future elections.

“I have started to heal the wound in Urueoffong/Oruko chapter of PDP. As a former legislative leader in the council, I promised to bring my experience to bear in my new office by operating an open door policy and provide PDP members with the tools to create ideas and be productive,” he said.

He lauded Oro Democratic Coalition for coming up with the idea to collaborate with the PDP to correct the situation that led to the defeat of PDP in the last House of Assembly election in the area.

While advising the youths to continue in their support to Gov. Udom Emmanuel, Hon. Edeke said the visionary and pragmatic leadership style of the governor and prudent management of resources have resulted in prompt payment of workers’ salaries in Akwa Ibom.

This, he said is in addition to the numerous development projects the state government is executing in the three senatorial districts.

Earlier, the leader of the group, Mr. Isong Edet, noted that, the emergence of Hon. Edeke as the chapter chairman of PDP in UrueOffong/Oruko, was strategic and described him as a square peg in a square hole.

Mr. Isong maintained that Hon. Edeke’s experience as the leader of Urueoffong/Oruko Legislative Council and the way he conducted legislative business was still fresh in the memory of the people.

The Oro Democratic Coalition president promised to support the administration of Gov. Udom Emmanuel for a second term in 2019.

Hon. Edeke was a leader of Akpakip Oro Forum, Union of Niger Delta Youths Democratic Voice (ADV), Goodluck Jonathan- Sambo Campaign Network, and Coalition for Akwa Ibom Agenda (CAKA).

The President Mr. Isong is of the opinion that, Oro Democratic Coalition (ODC) is mandated to support the present administration under th watch of Gov. Udom Emmanuel for a second term in office come 2019.
