Mkpat Enin PDP Inaugurates Campaign Committee

…as Party Chairman Urges Party faithful to Deliver Candidates

The Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Hon Anietie Sunday has urged members of the party in Mkpat Enin to engage in door to door campaign to ensure they garner all the votes in the December 2nd Local Government elections.

Hon Sunday made the call yesterday in Mkpat Enin during the inauguration of the Mkpat Enin PDP Local Government Campaign Committee.

The Chairman of the party who performed the inauguration which took place at the Council Secretariat, Mkpat Enin with the Chairmanship Candidate and Vice, Mr. Ekanem Brown and Hon Anietie Okodi, members of the Campaign Committee, party leaders in attendance.

He reminded members of the party that primaries were over and it was time for all members of the party to close ranks and work for the overall success of the party in other to maintain the clean sheet which the PDP has recorded in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area since the beginning of the present democratic dispensation in Nigeria.

According to him “since the Peoples Democratic Party came into existence in 1999, we have been the dominant political party in Mkpat Enin. Today is very historic because history is about to repeat itself. This party was handed over to Mkpat Enin by God himself and I want to thank our people for showing love and conviction towards PDP”.

“Today we are on the verge of repeating same history by electing Ekanem Brown and Anietie Okodi as our Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively. Same history is also set to be repeated in the 14 wards that make up Mkpat Enin because the entire Councillorship seats will be clinched by the PDP’.  Hon Sunday added.

He said that the inauguration ceremony will enable the committee start work to ensure victory for all the party’s candidates at the polls. Hon Sunday charged all the party members to take the message of Ekanem Brown and Anietie Okodi and 14 Councillorship candidates to all nooks and crannies of Mkpat Enin LGA and admonished them to get their voters cards ready. The party Chairman also described the party primaries that brought about Ekanem Brown as transparent, free and fair.

Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser, Bureau of Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon. Barr. Ekong Sampson pointed out that Mkpat Enin PDP as one big family has set everything in motion to secure victory for Ekanem Brown and Anietie Okodi as well as all fourteen wards of the area.

Barr. Ekong Sampson who christened the campaign team; “DREAM TEAM” assured all of the support and involvement of stakeholders in the area. He used the opportunity to call on all Mkpat Enin people and by extension Akwa Ibom Ibom people to have their voters card ready noting that anyone that has no voters card is politically impotent.

On his part, the House Member, Engr. Otobong Ndem while commending the people of Mkpat Enin for speaking with one voice, emphasized that Mr. Ekanem Brown emerged as the PDP flag bearer because Mkpat Enin people spoke. “Let no one deceive you, he worked hard and he succeeded. Let us unite Mkpat Enin with his victory as his election is a done deal”, he said.

The Campaign Committee has Hon Ekong Sampson as the Caucus Chairman, Hon Innocent Tom, Director General of the Campaign Organization, while the Media and Publicity Committee will be chaired by Mr. Eric Ekwere.

While delivering the vote of thanks, the Chairmanship Candidate, Hon Ekanem Brown commended the party leaders and the entire PDP family in Mkpat Enin LGA for the support and love they have extended to him and his running mate, Hon Anietie Okodi. He thanked the delegates who participated in the primaries for ensuring a peaceful and credible process. He promised to do all within his powers to develop the area when elected on December 2nd.

Other party elders from Mkpat Enin who graced the inauguration ceremony include Rt. Hon. Barr. Udobong Ekpo, Barr. Jerry Akpan, the State Secretary of the Youth Caucus Mr. Iniobong Akpan, Chapter Officers, all Ward Officers led by their Chairmen, all Councillorship candidates and other prominent sons and daughters of the area.

Youth Council Chairman of Mkpat Enin, Hon. Emem Alex and the Chapter Youth Caucus Chairman, Hon. Tony Evans led other youths to the event.

The grassroots campaigns across the 14 Wards of Mkpat Enin will kick start tomorrow Tuesday, 21st November and will be rounded off on Friday 24th November, 2017.
