Group Pledges Support To Gov. Emmanuel’s Industrialization Policy

A socio-political organization, the One-For Eight Initiative, has pledged its support to the industrialization policy of Gov. Udom Emmanuel. The head of the organization, Elder Friday Iwok, disclosed this during a courtesy visit on the Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, at the Government House, Uyo, recently, noting that the industrialization programme, will create employment and bring socioeconomic development to the state. Elder Iwok, who led state officers, local government chapter coordinators and members of the group to the deputy governor’s office, said apart from the aforementioned policy, the governor has lived up to his campaign promises.

He applauded Gov. Emmanuel on the choice of a founding member and a trustee of the organization, Mr. Ekpo, as his deputy, adding that the choice was not a mistake as the latter has proved to be a good and dependable ally of the administration.

Elder Iwok, who represents Abak State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, stated that the group has been following development activities in the state and found that the deputy governor has been effectively discharging his functions, adding that the group is proud of him. He said the organization has over 300 members spread across the country and supports eight years for Gov. Emmanuel as it did to the last two governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Receiving members of the organization in his office, the deputy governor thanked them for identifying with and supporting the present administration. Mr. Ekpo described the election that brought them to power as a credible and transparent one, assuring that with their support and that of others, the people-oriented programmes of the administration would be actualized. He observed that the organization, with its motto, Service Before Self, is blessed with people with proven integrity and is working selflessly to carve a niche for itself and urged them to keep the flag of the group flying. The deputy governor promised to intimate the governor of the declaration of support by the group to his administration.

In the group were the immediate past commissioner for transport, Dr Godwin Ntukudeh; a one-time commissioner for information, Mr Parchi Umoh and a former member for Nsit Ibom State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mrs. Sarah Esit-Ikot, among others.
