A’IBOM PDP ADVOCATES IMPROVED SECURITY, SUSTENANCE OF RULE OF LAW IN NIGERIA

…Recommends Gov. Emmanuel’s Approach to Sustainable Development

Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advocated for the improvement of security situation in various parts of Nigeria as well as further entrenchment of the rule of law in the pursuit good governance and sustainable development.

This position was ventilated by the Acting State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Lawrence Udosen, in Uyo, April 22, 2021, during the visit of Syndicate Three course participants of the National Institute of Security Studies (NISS), Bwari, Abuja. He stressed the need for key government institutions to live up to the expectations of the masses in aspects of good governance and sustainable development.

While delivering a paper on the theme, ‘Governance, Security and Sustainable Development: Nexus and Challenges’, Rt. Hon. Udosen noted that poor security situation across regions in the country and disrespect to the rule of law are a bane to good and sustainable development in Nigeria. In his view, good governance must be enforced across all stratas and sectors for meaningful development to thrive.

Referring to the Governor Udom Emmanuel’s model of sustainable development, the PDP boss hinted that the intentional growth in various sections and sectors of the state, have yielded good results evident in the general development seen in the state. He noted that as a key political institution, PDP in Akwa Ibom State has uninterruptedly produced successive governments in the state for 22 years, saying that the story of Akwa Ibom’s development cannot be told without the role of the party.

On his part, the leader of the NISS delegation, Mr Emmanuel Esomonu, lauded the PDP in Akwa Ibom State for continously staying on the side of the people, hence the party’s successive victories in elections since the return of democracy in 1999. He observed that Akwa Ibom has proven to be a stronghold of PDP, encouraging leaders of the party to ensure the sustainability of a clear political ideology. He acknowledged the level of development in the state, holding that Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration has made a significant mark in the state.

The Syndicate Three Class of the National Institute of Security Studies, made up of top personnel of various security agencies was in the Akwa Ibom to engage with relevant institutions on the subject of security, good governance and sustainable development.
