40,000 Traders, Cooperative Members Storm Govt House For Gov Emmanuel

Governor Udom Emmanuel has reiterated that he is committed to providing enabling environment for businesses to thrive in Akwa Ibom State.

He gave this charge while addressing cooperative societies and traders during a thank you rally to him at Government House, Uyo.

The Governor stated that every big business started from small, hence the government’s efforts to support them. 

He described his vision for the state as one aimed at increasing the wealth of the people by showing them how to fish.

Today we have provided an atmosphere where businesses can thrive free from any security threat and one of my integral vision for the state is creating wealth.”

He thanked the traders for seeing the need to appreciate the interest free loans while promising to double the effort during his second term in office.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Trade & Market Matters, Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael appreciated the Governor for the interest free loans given to the traders which he stated has further helped in creating wealth for the traders who no longer have to depend much on government for everything.

“Your Excellency, it’s because of your kind gesture towards the traders that today we come to say thank you and pray that you do even more in your second term”. he stated. 

He promised on behalf of the traders to reciprocate the effort through massive unit to unit Mobilization towards his second term bid.

In their goodwill messages, the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Linus Nkan, the Special Adviser to the Governor Bureau of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Hon. Mrs. Ekemini Umoh, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Microfinance and Enterprise Development, Mr. Ime Uwah, thanked the Governor for the numerous packages which include the interest-free loans to traders and providing an enabling environment for business to grow. They promised to fully support his second term bid come 2019.
