As party nominations for the 2023 polls draw closer, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has stated that the party intends to clinch total victory at the general elections that will be collectively achieved and owned by every stakeholder and member of the party.

The State Chairman of PDP, Rt Hon (Hon) Aniekan Akpan, on Tuesday April 5, relayed the position of the party during the Federal Constituency Tour in Uyo, holding that the party is constantly preaching peace and unity and wants various stakeholders and members to work towards a total victory across all levels in 2023.

“Peace is what we need in our party and state and we will vigorously pursue peace. As a party, we will continue to stay united. We came with the message of politics without bitterness. We strongly advise that everyone in the party should cohabit as a family and win as a collective.”

“I appreciate Uyo Federal Constituency for the tremendous support given to party. Uyo as state capital has not disappointed in many ways and for this, we commend stakeholders and members of the party in this part”

“We said it and we will continue to assure of a levelled playing field. When we talk about levelled playing field, the field has already been levelled, we are to only maintain it that way”, Akpan said.

On his part, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, speaking through the member representing Nsit Atai in the state legislature, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset, who lauded the leadership style of the State Chairman of PDP, stated that the leadership of the House of Assembly is in total alliance with the party’s democratic ideals, promising more support for Uyo Federal Constituency to the party.

In his words, “everybody knows PDP to be strong, to be reliable and to be resilient. The House of Assembly is in tune with the ideals of the party and we will continue to stand with our party. Uyo Federal Constituency will not also fail to give the party the needed support in 2023.”

Also speaking, former Commissioner for Environment and serving Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Agency (UCCDA), Prince Enobong Uwah, thanked the delegation of the party for the visit and joined voice with others to assure of the people’s continued support for PDP.

According to Uwah, Uyo Federal Constituency and particularly Uyo Local Government Area, has benefited immensely from PDP since 1999 and considers it obligatory to jostle to top the chart of highest support base of PDP in the state.

Others who spoke were the member representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, Uyo Local Government Council Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo and Prince Godwin Ntukudeh.
