…As Archbishop Sam Akpan, Dr Bassey Antai, other Elders, perfect process of emptying 200,000 APC stakeholders into PDP
Excited by the brighter prospects of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State to record sweeping victories across the various categories of elections in 2023, a former Governorship Aspirant who is the Leader of the Akwa Ibom APC Coalition Archbishop Sam Akpan and former Commissioner for Health Dr Sunday Antai has visited the State PDP Secretariat to finalise the process of emptying over 200,000 APC stakeholders and members into the PDP.
Coming under the umbrella of the Truth Akwa Ibom 2023, the group comprising of over 200,000 members drawn from mainly the APC and other political parties, the group says it is out to support the Governorship Candidate of the Party Pastor Umo Eno and other candidates to win elections in 2023.
Addressing the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, ArchBishop Sam Akpan said the leadership of the group were in the PDP State Secretariat Complex to acquaint themselves with the happenings at the PDP as well as put finishing touches to their decision to empty over hundreds of thousands of their elders, stakeholders and members into the PDP.
“Our dear Chairman of Party, in July, I, alongside other prominent elders of APC, and over 200,000 stakeholders and members had publicly announced our decision to dump the APC and move back to a party that is well positioned to win the 2023 elections and of course future elections in Akwa Ibom State.
From the moment we had announced that decision we have been welcomed and celebrated across the different strata of leadership and membership in the PDP. This warm welcome has emboldened us to begin mobilisation for the PDP immediately. Today we came to formally intimate you that we are holding our next enlarged meeting here in the PDP Secretariat. This is part of the final processes of emptying our structure to the PDP.”
Responding, State Chairman of the PDP, Rt Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, thanked the leadership of the group for the visit, and mentioned to them that as part of the Policy of the present administration in the PDP, the party will continue to keep an open door for all Akwa Ibom people to come in and be a part of the making of history in 2023 electoral victory.

We urge every Akwa Ibom person to stand up and be a part in this journey to making yet another history”
The State Chairman also made presentation of PDP uniforms and hats to the leadership of the Group.
