…Fixes Simultaneous Ward Meeting for Saturday, July 9, 2022

Akwa Ibom State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has moved to intensify grassroots engagement as well as harness the ward structure of party in view to fostering greater unity and bond.

In a meeting with local government and ward chairmen as well as candidates of the party, Wednesday July 6, the state party chairman, Rt. Hon (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, re-emphasized the need for the party to work towards strengthening all structures with particular interest in the party at the ward level.

He alluded that the most important level of the party has been the ward and will continue to enjoy sufficient attention and support, adding that as a party that is well rooted across all communities in Akwa Ibom, PDP will invest more in grassroots engagements to interface with the electorates as the tradition of the party has been.

“This is a very important period and we will leave no stone unturned across all the structures, particularly the ward structure. Akwa Ibomites across various wards in the state are easily reached for constant engagements through the ward structure of our party. We will continue to go home and interface with the people and sell our plans to them because this has always been the tradition of PDP”, he said.

He also announced the party’s decision to hold simultaneous ward meeting across all the 329 wards which elections will hold in the state on Saturday July 9, 2022.

“This Saturday, we need to see every member of the PDP in his or her ward. The sole agenda of that meeting will be how to continuously strengthen our party at the grassroots level. We need to re-echo the message of PDP in our respective wards and be ready to receive defectors back into the party” The State PDP Chairman explained.

The chairman who noted that the party remians strong and committed to issue-based campaign, encouraged candidates of the party and stakeholders to work towards reinforcing unity and reconciliation, in line with the party’s efforts at addressing issues arising from the primaries.

On his part, the PDP gubernatorial standard bearer, Pastor Umo Eno, expressed optimism on the party’s victory at the polls, calling on fellow members of the party to accept the call for reconciliation and work as a team to achieve a common goal which he said is for the greater good of the state.

“I call on my brothers and sisters in the party to come together let us reconcile and work as a united front. There is nothing that we cannot achieve as one body. PDP is our only party and the vehicle of development in Akwa Ibom State. We are optimistic of victory at the polls with God on our side”, said Eno.
