The Hilltop Mansion of Akwa Ibom State Government House, Uyo was not spared of activities that drew year 2016 to an end as the state Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel and Wife Martha Deputy Governor Mr Moses Ekpo, State Chief Judge Justice Stephen Okon, Secretary To the State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren and wife, Director General Divine Mandate Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, Members of the State Executive Council, Permanent Secretaries, Board Chairmen and Religious Leaders kept vigil at the Latter House Chapel, Governor’s Lodge to pray and herald the New year.
In his remarks Governor Emmanuel thanked God for his benevolence throughout year 2016 and called on all to be more dedicated to God and exhibit diligence in all undertakings stressing that favour shall over rule much labour.
In an exhortation the General overseer of Power City Int’l, Uyo , Rev. Abel Damina, enjoined the people to seek God and know more of him in year 2017 for the manifestation of His Glory in the state adding that many christians profess faith but waiver in the face of challenges.
Taking his text from the Lukes Gospel Chapter 24, the Cleric said that it is not enough to be called Christian without a personal relationship with Christ.
He added that through spiritual rebirth man has the right of sonship with Jesus, this according to him, is the passport to immortality and all round success.
Rev Damina profess that year 2017 shall witness a bountiful harvest of God’s faithfulness in all dimensions across the state.
Highpoint of the new year eve was prayers offered for the State , Members of the State Executive Council , Legislature, Judiciary, the Governor and his family as Happy New year tunes and wishes rent the air to usher in Year 2017.
